Chapter 9




Neil decides it’s time Fallia knows about Doc and Tosha, because he doesn’t know anyone else they can turn to. After Volar leaves for school Neil and Fallia find a babysitter for the twins and head over to the Plutarian Clinic.




Tosha and Doc have been awaiting their arrival and are already prepared to talk to them. Tosha explains everything Neil already knows to Fallia while Doc takes Neil to another room to fill him in on some personal information about himself. Tosha also goes on to tell Fallia that her husbands death was no accident. The Evilican counsel executed her husband because they knew she would disobey; giving them a reason to send her to Plutarian. The counsel has always kept a close eye on Neil. They are almost certain that Neil fell in love with Fallia in his teens, and suspect Fallia felt the same way about Neil. The counsel has been betting on the fact that Neil can’t resist Fallia and that she would turn to Neil in her time of grief and loneliness. Fallia looks confused so Tosha goes on to explain that male DNA determines the sex of a baby, so the counsel needed a non-Evilican males DNA to produce female babies. They picked Neil basically because they owned him and knew his genetic make up from head to toe. The counsel’s larger plan is to keep breeding generations of these mixed females back into the Evilican race until they get a breed close enough to being a pure Evilican to satisfy them. Meantime the counsel plans to continue to impregnate other species all over the universe in hopes that they run across a male Evilican that can produce a female child. Tosha rolls her eyes as she tells Fallia this is the best plan the counsel could come up with in 20 years.




Once in the other room Doc tells Neil how he came to be raised by the Evilican species. Doc explains how a certain group of Evilican’s top scientists formed a secret society and have been secretly abducting humans for years to run experiments on them. Neil’s mother was one of these unfortunate souls. They discovered she was already pregnant after abducting her and they spared her from testing until after Neil’s birth. Once Neil was born he was ripped from his mothers arms and she was put through a number of brutal genetic tests before one of them took her life. The only thing that saved Neil from the same fate was a wife of one of the top scientists becoming attached to him. It was decided that they would raise Neil as their own and see if they could make him smarter than other humans. Doc hands Neil a potion and tells him to pour it into the plants Lathyrus is growing. He explains how Lathyrus has figured out how to grow Cow Plants and it is imperative that this not be let happen. When they are finished talking Doc takes Neil back to the room with Tosha and Fallia. Doc and Tosha tell them that the counsel has to be stopped before the entire universe is affected. Neil and Fallia are asked to look for a Diary written by Lathyrus and to come back to the clinic when they find it.




Neil and Fallia stop by the Shopping and Leisure POD 462c for a drink so they can fill each other in on everything they have learned before returning to Lab X. Neil feels somehow responsible for Fallia’s husbands death and he tells her how sorry he is. She assures Neil that she doesn’t blame him. She also admits that she only married Volar’s father because he was the next best thing to the man her heart has always belonged to, but she knew she couldn't have. Neil’s heart skipped a beat because, before this past year, he never dreamed that Fallia returned the love he has always felt for her.

The Muhli couple own the Shopping and Leisure POD 462c. They over heard Neil and Fallia earlier in the day and have called a meeting with other business owners around Plutarian. Everyone is shocked to learn the news about the Evilican counsel and decide to quietly inform the other colonist.

The whispers going around Plutarian have caused the parents of the mixed species boys concern. Ceres Keptar is the first to show up at the clinic to see Doc and Tosha. Like many other parents she is concerned about her baby and would like to know if there is a way to find out who his father is. Ceres wants to know incase her son ever has any health issues that would warrant his fathers DNA or medical background. The parents are worried that the downfall of the Evilican counsel may cause all of the records to be destroyed. Doc and Tosha comfort Ceres by telling her that all of this information will be kept safe and available to all of the parents on Plutarian very soon. Ceres and the other parents are asked to keep things quiet for now, because Lathyrus finding out anyone is on to him will cause catastrophic events and millions of deaths all over the Universe.

Very soon the Evilican counsel will be taken out of power and punished for what they have done. Once that is over, the Visitors can help the newly populated planets all over the universe flourish into greatness. Tosha tells Doc how proud she is of them for doing such a great job here on Plutarian. She looks forward to staying here and helping this planet reach its full potential.




The time for Owen’s age transformation arrives. Karen is thrilled about the event but Lathyrus doesn't seem to be excited at all. It’s obvious he’s only in the room to watch over Karen.




Karen doesn’t seem to notice that poor Owen isn’t the prettiest toddler in the universe and lovingly begins to teach him how to walk.




Finding out what happened to his mother has been weighing heavily on Neil’s mind in the last few days but he knows he doesn’t have time to dwell on it right now. As soon as Neil see’s the lab is empty he pours the potion Doc gave him into the growing Cow Plants and then begins his search for the diary. Neil has asked Fallia to let him be in charge of the search while she keeps a watchful eye on everyone else at Lab X. This keeps Fallia out of danger and insures the children and Karen are safe as well.
