Chapter 5




Neil sneaks around making copies of Lathyrus’s records while working in the lab. Unfortunately he never has time to read much of it, because he never knows when Lathyrus will enter the room. He did however read enough about the DNA testing on Volar to feel better about the situation. From the best Neil can tell Lathyrus was only gathering genetic information about the toddler.




Neil has been instructed by Doc to bring the information he gathers to the clinic every chance he gets, but to be very careful about it. They have asked Neil to continue gathering it for as long as they need him to. Neil is very curious about what is going on, but for some reason he trusts that Doc and Tosha know what they are doing.




A lot of Evilican men are showing up on Plutarian. Some of them take up residency on the planet, while others only stay for a matter of days, but they all see Lathyrus for DNA testing.




No matter how much Neil looks at the plants Lathyrus is growing, he can’t figure out what they are. He wants to run tests on them, but Lathyrus would know if they have been disturbed.




Neil also can’t figure out what the new machine Lathyrus has made does. It looks like a candy making machine, but Neil knows that can’t be its purpose.




Lathyrus has been spending an exceptional amount of time in the labs lately. Neil suspects Lathyrus is keeping records hidden, because he can’t find enough to fit the hours being worked.




Lathyrus runs more tests on Pauline and informs her that she is pregnant with an alien child. Other than telling her the baby is of her DNA as well, he refuses answer any questions she has. Lathyrus forces Pauline and Karen to study about how to take care of an alien infant.




Once Pauline and Karen are tucked away in the basement, Lathyrus retires to his room in the evenings. No one else knows that he spends this time writing in a diary.




Doc and Tosha discuss over lunch about how things are going to get really busy on the planet very soon. They agree on the fact that they must keep their focus on the troubles at hand and not lose their prospective in all the madness.




Out of all the couples that have been treated at Lab X the Reptilian's are the first to show up at the clinic suspecting to be pregnant. Many other couples follow, over the next few weeks, all finding out that they are in fact expecting a child.
