Chapter 2
The first house Neil heads to is
7201 Saturn Drive.
Three couples are housed there who joined the colony because they have not yet been able to have children. They have been all over
the galaxy and hope they can find answers as to why here on Plutarian.

The Aqus,
Aurumian,
and Reptilian
families are the only couples on Plutarian who do not have a scientific reason found for not being able to reproduce.
Neil conducts his interview with each individual family and sets up appointment times with them all at Lab X before he leaves.

After the next few interviews, Neil took a break and headed over to see his old friend Fallia Evilican. Fallia and her son
Volar just arrived to Plutarian, and Neil is anxious to see what brings them here. The last Neil had heard from her was
right after her husband died in a freak accident. He was star gazing one night when a satellite fell out of the sky and
landed right on top of him. Fallia gave birth to Volar just a few days later. In Evilican culture, woman who are still
in child bearing years are now expected to remarry within their husband’s family when they become a widow. The lack of
females being born to the race has really made it hard on the women who do exist.
Fallia tells Neil all about how she refused to marry one of her husband’s brothers. It isn’t a law and she doesn’t
feel she has to marry a man she doesn’t love. Especially only based on the sole fact that it was an expectation of her.
None of that seemed to matter to the counsel. They gave her the choice to either marry or be banished to a planet they
felt would better suit their cause. Fallia was sent to Plutarian so that Lathyrus could use her DNA in his research.
Fallia knew this was nothing more than a punishment, because they could have used her DNA at home. Fallia hugged Neil
and told him how much better she felt about all of this when she found out he was based on Plutarian.
Fallia lightly brushed Neil’s face with her hand after she hugged him. Neil’s heart has always thumped hard when in
Fallia presence, but he’d never seen her look at him like this before. Fallia leaned in to kiss Neil, but he knew he couldn’t
let this happen. Evilican law has clearly stated for the past ten years that no other species can mate with their women.
Death is the punishment for doing so. Neil turned his face away and apologized to Fallia. Fallia began to cry and tells Neil
how sorry she is because she knows it is forbidden. Neil hugged Fallia and told her he had to go, but he would be back soon
to check on her.
Neil’s heart is crushed and he can’t bear to do anymore interviews for the day. He heads over to Jupiter Star to drown
his sorrows at the bar.
Meantime back at Lab X...
The first thing Lathyrus does when Neil leaves is change the access codes
to the basement and the third level bedroom. Neil no longer has access to
those areas and since Lathyrus is higher ranked than Neil he also has no
say in the matter.
Lathyrus made the necessary changes to the basement to suit his experimental needs.
Then, oddly enough, Lathyrus made a painting of the Cow Plant.
When Lathyrus finished the painting he hung it in the third level bedroom;
which has also been converted over to a baby nursery.
One can only wonder why Lathyrus would be doing such things and why he would need such privacy…
